Rafilla: 'We're UD Almería and we must reach the top spots'

The newly appointed UD Almería Under-19s 'A' head coach talks about his first days at the helm of the youth team. He highlighs: 'The sacrifice and commitment that the players have'

Newly appointed UD Almería Under-19s 'A' head coach Rafilla shared his first impressions of his first days at the helm of the youth team.  He replaces former head coach Zeus Carmona who, for personal reasons, asked to leave the Club. As soon as Rafilla arrived he had to lead the team against Betis Balompié Under-19s. 'We consider the draw as a very positive result because the rivals are the best contenders to fight for the title,' he pointed out. He then added: 'I was only able to conduct two training sessions and I opted for more observation work, with the members of the coaching staff being the ones who took the initiative and I have to thank them for the work they did, helping me a lot.'

This week he already coaches a squad in which what stands out above all is 'the sacrifice and commitment that the players have. Here we've gained a lot from the great work of Zeus Carmona. Maybe we have to improve what we do with the ball, but I can't make radical changes.'

'My main objective is to get the best performance out of each player,' Rafilla said considering that he is having a really complicated start to the league because after playing against Betis, now the youth team visit Granada 'who is the team from my homeland and in which I've been several years.'

This season, they have a powerful squad and are expected to fight for the top spots. 'We also have to be there because we're Almería, an important youth team of a professional football club,' the new gaffer concluded.
