Rubi: 'We played a good first half, but it was difficult for us to create chances in the second'

The UD Almería head coach congratulated CD Eldense on their 1-0 victory and recognised that they merited the win. 'We haven't had any luck in other types of plays that are also important in a game,' he pointed out

The UD Almería head coach shared his post-match thoughts in the Pepico Amat press room. The Rojiblancos ended suffering the first defeat of the season. 'In the first half we were quite good, outclassing them, defending set pieces well and creating clear chances. The second half has taken its toll on us. CD Eldense have made us very uncomfortable and it's also true that we haven't had any luck in other types of plays that are also important in the game.'

Rubi tiptoed around one of the controversies of the encounter, in which the referee rectified a second yellow card for the CD Eldense footballer, Godoy: 'The ref has decided that it was not, many games are being decided from others, three out of four. We must congratulate CD Eldense, who competed very well and made it difficult for us. We must admit that we've worked a lot, but I'm left with a bittersweet taste because of the second period, in which we struggled to whip in chances.'

The Rojiblancos' gaffer was self-critical by saying: 'We could've hurt them more in some spells, but those plays ended empty and we also weren't comfortable when building up from the back.'

UD Almería have started the competition with three out of four away games: 'Playing away from home is a little more complicated, we've passed this stage; Now we have to chain the two at home with good results and learn, knowing that today was a game a little more different from what we are going to find.'

The man from Vilassar de Mar pointed out that he has found tough opponents, just as he expected: 'I expected a feisty CD Eldense, who play direct football, who do not allow you to relax in long balls, who take throw-ins against you and I think that we've done a very good job, counteracting those plays. When a team win a game we have to accept it.'
