Rubi: 'It's a very tough defeat; I apologise and I promise to turn the situation around'

The UD Almería head coach, who was very self-critical after his team's 2-5 defeat, was emphatic when stating: 'The first half is of no use despite our scoring opportunities. They've scored 5 goals against us and this cannot be.'

UD Almería head coach Rubi began his post-match press conference after the 2-5 defeat to CD Castellón apologising and making assessments about some specific situations in the game: 'We're truly sorry. In the second half, we lost control completely. You can be trailing, but you have to try to keep your cool, maintain the positions, be more effective in some situations... That's exactly why we lost control of the game. I don't want to make excuses, the first half is of no use despite the chances. They've scored 5 goals against us and this cannot be.'

Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia recognised that his side was getting weaker and weaker with each goal and on the other hand, he highlighted the great performance put in by the guests: 'Little by little, they've been hitting us and every time they got to the box, it was a blow. When we scored a goal, it lasted two minutes. We must congratulate them. In the second half, they embarrassed us and had some excellent minutes of action. For us, self-criticism because we cannot break down, especially after creating chances against them.'

The Rojiblancos' gaffer is totally committed: 'I promise to turn the situation around, which is hard. Conceding such a severe defeat at home hurts a lot and we're going to look for solutions thinking about SD Eibar and that the team have a little more success because I don't question the quality of the attacking players.'

On the other hand, the Catalan highlighted the role of UD Almería 'B' youth player Rachad Fetal: 'The positive note today is the work of Rachad, who played an excellent game. It's a shame that he won't remember this day as something positive, but we've added one more player to the cause.'

When asked if this was his most complicated Matchday in the Club, Rubi responded: 'Without a doubt. Knowing the difficulty of the game, we've dedicated the most hours to this game. It was a long week, we had time and we were hit hard. The result leaves me very disappointed, but tomorrow we're going to find the way so that at the end of the season, hopefully, it'll be remembered just like a bad day .'
