UD Almería create international grassroots football tournament Desert Cup
The Club presented it at the Stadium with the Sports Councilor of Roquetas, where the event will be held in December. PSG, Real Madrid CF, Athletic Club de Bilbao… first clubs confirmed to participate
UD Almería and its Foundation with the support of the Roquetas de Mar City Council have created the Desert Cup, an international youth tournament that takes place 5-8 December on different pitches located in Roquetas de Mar. The event was officially presented at the UD Almería Stadium in the early stages to last Thursday's UD Almería vs Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr FC friendly.
Club Managing Director Mohamed El Assy and Sports Councilor of the Roquetas de Mar City Council José Juan Rubí endorsed it on the Stadium lawn and in front of the almost 14,000 supporters who attended the game.
The main objective is to turn the Desert Cup into a national benchmark in terms of grassroots football. At the moment, the first participants have already been announced, in addition to UD Almería such as PSG, Real Madrid CF and Athletic Club de Bilbao. The Club is looking to bring in the youth teams of the most important clubs across Europe.
